Very Exciting News!

Chris Sayburn | 30 June, 2008

People’s Album Update
I met with Adrian Thompson the A & R manager for Survivor Records (who is an amazing man of God) and he gave me the rough mixes of “great is the Lord” and “King” both are sounding strong already, especially “great is the Lord” the “three in one” really works in the chorus and the tag takes the song to a new level. I’m so excited and humbled that God is giving me a wider opportunity to put words of praise on the lips of His people.

Also a good mate of mine Sim Walker and I co-wrote a song called “To You be the glory” which has also been selected for the people’s album. Sim is a gifted worship leader / songwriter and is going to be doing an internship working alongside me from September which I am very excited about.

“Great is the Lord” chosen for Worship Central.
Some other exciting news is “Great is the Lord” has been selected for July’s New Song on Worship Central! Worship Central has been personally a great resource for me so its going to be great privilege to be able to help resource others across the world,
Check out www.worshipcentral.org for more info.

I cant quite believe what God is doing!!

Cross Centered Worship

Chris Sayburn | 19 June, 2008

As you may have seen on my “Books on the go” list I have Bob Kauflin’s “Worship Matters”

First thing to say is - what an amazing book, probably the best I’ve read so far on worship and I’m only half way through!

Many things have grabbed my attention but for some reason I cant get this out of my head so I thought I would share it with you.

Heavens Worship

If you read Revelation 5, you will see that heaven is not worshipping Christ for His teaching, His moral perfection, His miracles, His role in creation or that He holds everything together….but simply for His worthy sacrifice.

“Worthy are You Lord to take the scroll and open its seals, for You were slain, and by Your blood you ransomed people for God…“ (Rev 5:9)

It’s like heaven never moves on from the cross.

Jim Elliff points out,
“One is taken back by the emphasis upon the cross in Revelation. Heaven does not ‘get over’ the cross, as if there are better things to think about, heaven is not only Christ-centered but cross-centered and quite blaring about it to.”

Bob goes on to say that with so many clear references to the priority of Jesus and His atoning work, it’s astounding how often we go through whole church meetings with only passing references to what He’s accomplished through His life, death and resurrection.

“The hosts of heaven never tire of praising the Lamb who was slain…..should we?”

People’s Album Update + Poll

Chris Sayburn | 13 June, 2008

Just thought I would give you a quick update….

  • They are at the mixing stage of my tracks
  • Stu G from Delirious has been putting guitar parts down (winner)
  • We’ve agreed that “great is the three in one” works better than “great is the triune God” in the chorus of “Great is the Lord.”
  • There is now a tag for “Great is the Lord” which is simple and really “lifts” the song
  • I know who the singers are on the tracks but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say so I wont! (I’m excited though)

Do you think changing "Triune" to "three in one" works better?

A Song For The City

Chris Sayburn | 9 June, 2008

Check out this great song (and great video): “God of the city” taken from the latest passion album. This will be great to use for the upcoming Hope 08 prayer meetings as well as normal Congregational use.

If you do want to use this songs in your churches, I have written out the chord sheets in G (for capo) and A as it’s far too high in C unless you are leading about 5,000 + so drop me a comment if you want them (as long your church will report the usage to CCLI etc.. so I dont get in trouble!)
